Profile

Corporate Paralegal, Mission & Impact Practice Duties: Work with some of the leading mission-driven companies in a diverse set of industries including education technology, government technology, energy analytics, health technology and products, civic engagement technology, and sustainable agriculture. Work on a range of progressive corporate matters, from implementing extended post-termination exercise windows to incorporating and converting public benefit corporations. Develop close relationships with a small legal team and very appreciative clients. Use the latest technologies, including Asana (project management), Carta (cap table management), ContractExpress (form management), HelloSign (signature management), and custom tools developed in-house. Participate as a key member of the larger paralegal community and help reinvent legal processes, advise on the creation of new software tools, and reshape legal workflows (already redesigned 83(b) elections and how we collect equity and termination information. Level up as a paralegal and help hire, train, mentor and manage other paralegals and practice assistants. Gain voluminous insight into the venture-backed, mission-driven company space. Have a formative impact in significantly improving the legal services mission-driven companies receive.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 2+ years of experience as a startup paralegal who is passionate about working with mission-driven companies and delivering great client experiences. 2-6 years’ experience as a paralegal with significant early-stage startup experience, including formations, board actions, stock option issuances, venture financings and cap table management on Carta. Frequent client-facing interaction with confidence in knowing when to answer client questions directly vs looping in an attorney. Experience owning specific client responsibilities including following up with periodic filings, 83(b) elections, etc. Organized, detail-oriented, and confident in applying learnings to new situations. Growth mindset to identify and address any gaps in skills needed to make projects successful.
