Senior Director, Legal The candidate will be ensuring internal business and legal alignment on key matters. Collaborating with management, lawyers and compliance professionals to provide strategic guidance and pragmatic solutions, with an emphasis on partnering with the business on key initiatives for the overall success of the organization. Will be handling a wide array of matters relating to general legal support of a business, including counseling on sales and marketing matters, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, advising regulatory and medical teams and other general legal advice to the businesses in furtherance of the both the business’s and legal department strategic goals. Importantly, this role is for someone who has an industrious and self-motivated approach with a desire to develop personally and professionally. Expected to interact with senior business leaders. Provides counsel to marketing, regulatory and medical teams on advertising and promotional regulations, fraud and abuse laws, and business and contract issues in our day-to-day operations. Provides legal advice regarding commercial and development operations. Drafts and reviews a variety of commercial agreements, including supply and manufacturing contracts and agreements with distributors. Provides general legal advice to support commercial operations of the Salix business, including working on product launches. Other tasks/assignments as required.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Law degree and Bar admission, with ability to qualify for NJ In-House Counsel admission. Must have 7+ years of relevant legal experience, with prior in-house counsel experience strongly preferred, ideally within the life sciences industry. Should have experience working for a major law firm prior to transitioning to in house. Regulatory counseling experience is required. Must be skilled in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and familiar with licensing and royalty agreements.
