A law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Community Association law Attorney to join their team in Christiansburg, VA. This attorney will represent developers, lenders, landlords, and community associations, handling various legal tasks related to community association law and commercial real estate transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent developers, lenders, landlords, and community associations in legal matters.
  • Handle commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, purchase, financing, and leasing.
  • Assist with forming, registering, governing, and complying community associations for residential, commercial, and mixed-use condominiums.
  • Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft various legal documents such as agreements, deeds, loan documents, leases, declarations, and covenants.
  • Manage teams to ensure timely closings and meet project milestones.
  • Conduct specialized training for boards of directors, committees, and managers on community association governance and legal issues.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a solid commitment to perseverance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community association law.
  • Extensive experience in interpreting governing documents, providing guidance on association governance, preparing amendments to governing documents and addressing fair housing issues.
  • Active involvement in the community associations industry, including participation in organizations like the Community Associations Institute (CAI), teaching at chapter events, and contributing articles to relevant publications.
  • Strong knowledge of community association law, real estate, and related areas.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.

Skills:

  • Proficient in communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate with various stakeholders effectively.
  • Adept at conducting specialized training and providing expert guidance to boards and committees.
