Senior Attorney The candidate will be responsible for providing legal counsel and representation of the Department in all phases of the acquisition of right-of-way for transportation facilities. Will be responsible for representation in all phases of eminent domain proceedings, including research, the preparation of pleadings, discovery, preparation of witnesses, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial. Responsible for preparing real estate conveyance documents. Responsible for representation in defense of the Department in claims of inverse condemnation, as assigned. Responsible for thoroughly researching all state and federal statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations affecting the right-of-way acquisition operations of the Department. Responsible for advising the right-of-way offices the attorney is assigned to work with of their legal powers and duties, how the law affects their operations, and the implementation of policies and rules. Knowledge of litigation and civil rules of procedure and practice and Government In the Sunshine Law is needed. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communications are essential. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are needed. Deadline: 30 June, 2018.
