Duties:
- Provide legal representation in immigration matters, including advising and assisting clients through immigration applications and proceedings
- Meet with clients to discuss their legal needs, including those who are incarcerated or detained
- Prepare and file various immigration applications, ensuring compliance with legal standards
- Represent clients in interviews and hearings related to immigration cases
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on immigration law and related topics, such as criminal law
- Collaborate with team members in handling complex immigration cases and client inquiries
Requirements:
- Must have passed the Massachusetts Bar or be awaiting Bar results
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- Prior exposure to immigration law, whether through coursework, internships, or previous legal experience
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a collaborative team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with a diverse client base, particularly the Latino community
- Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced legal environment
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
- Massachusetts Bar Admission or pending results
Skills:
- Proficiency in immigration law
- Strong legal research and writing abilities
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Client-focused approach with the ability to handle sensitive legal matters with care and discretion
- Knowledge of criminal law and its intersection with immigration law is a plus
