Staff Attorney The candidate provides legal assistance and representation of low-income victims of domestic violence in family law and domestic matters cases. Prepares legal research, gives legal advice, and provides legal and policy analysis of issues. Provides civil legal representation to Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence,with diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, consistent with professional standards, and criteria, policies and procedures of EC and its funding sources. This task includes preparing legal briefs and documents, and developing strategy, arguments and testimony in order to present cases in court and other forums. Maintains accurate and complete files and records, and prepares timely and complete forms and records required for client services and/or related administrative tasks. Enters accurate data into ClientTrax electronic case management system. Provides legal counsel and advice to clients. Coordinates legal services with other EC’s team members as well as external agencies; Provides analysis of legal and policy issues. Conducts and oversees research into a variety of legal issues. Writes, edits, and finalizes reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents; Advises company’s staff members about legal issues concerning its their clients. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Participates in agency planning and organizational development; Other duties as assigned. Must have demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights, gender equality and issues of social and economic justice. Must have J.D. Should have 1 year practice of law experience (family law/domestic violence experience preferred). Clinical law experience may be considered to fulfill practice of law requirement. Must be Bilingual (Spanish/English). Should have Member of NM State Bar.
