Profile

Legal Assistant The candidate will be maintaining calendars, client appointments, and due dates. Preparing correspondence, probate court documents, estate planning documents, and other legal documents. Significant interaction with firm clients, potential clients, court staff and others. Preparing and organizing client files. Conveying and obtaining necessary information to and from clients and others on behalf of supervising attorney(s).

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a High School. Must have a minimum of 3 years previous legal secreterial experience. Must have previous experience with probate court and trust administration. Experience with Probate Litigation a plus. Knowledge of Estate Planning and/or HotDocs Document Automation Software a plus. Must have computer proficiency along with exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Must also be proficient in typing, a problem-solver, work with a sense of urgency, excellent written and verbal communication skills, willing to meet with clients, and has strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight. Friendly rapport and willingness to address client issues in a friendly manner. Excellent editing and formatting skills. Comfortable working in a team environment.

The leadership team might want to do something to help unify the firm. Maybe some team building exercises might help? Firm unity needs work, for sure.

Pros : The billable hour's requirement here is pretty fair, and I think most associates would agree with me. The benefits package, including the health insurance, is also very good.
Cons : Associates are expected to solicit their own business if their partner cannot supply them with enough cases to meet their billable quota. Also, the firm doesn't feel very unified. It's a pretty big firm, but it feels like a bunch of small firms that are sharing an office, if that makes sense.
