Special Project Coordinator, Temporary Part-time The candidate will provide responsibilities include: Presents “The A-Z of Used Car Buying” module to community groups and participates in public speaking engagements. Attends public events and community meetings to raise awareness about the issues dealt with by consumers of used vehicles in the area. Creates educational materials about buying used cars and how to apply for assistance for issues that may arise. Coordinates and implements community education projects including providing training to attorneys and other advocates. Develops and maintains knowledge of legal and community-based organizations that can assist consumers and makes appropriate referrals. Promotes and markets legal aid in the community. Works closely with MALS staff to capture and write stories about car buying issues and how legal aid helps address them. Provides targeted distribution of informational materials. Solicits input and feedback from community members, partner organizations, and former clients. Works closely with MALS’ staff to provide information for the website and social media about car buying issues. Works with funder to develop additional projects and educational materials. Develops positive working relationships and builds partnerships with other organizations providing services and working on issues facing car buyers. Coordinates outreach and education with other MALS staff members.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have bachelor’s degree and/or law degree. Must have exceptional interpersonal and communications skills; proven ability to cultivate relationships with and establish networks among a diverse set of stakeholders; strong public speaking skills. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Must have ability to work independently and take initiative to lead projects while also working with a team. Must have strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office and with databases. Must have demonstrated interest in legal aid and equal justice. Must have ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks. Must have willingness to travel for meetings, training and other events. Must have ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Must have transportation. Must have good organizational skills and attention to detail.
