Deputy General Counsel The candidate will manage and provide direction and oversight to assigned Staff Attorneys and/or program areas, including attorneys advising the Indiana Medicaid program. Will also provide legal advice and support to assigned agency divisions or offices. Assist with directing and supervising attorneys and support staff as assigned. Oversee and delegate assigned duties as they relate to the current workloads and priorities. Serve as lead advisory counsel to the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning. Conduct research to establish/determine legal precedents and standards for regulatory or contractual compliance. Provide sound legal advice and communicate advice in a clear and concise manner. Oversee special projects.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree and member in good standing of the Indiana Bar Association. Must have 1-2 years of supervisory experience and/or 3-5 years of legal experience in health care law, regulatory compliance, or matters directly related to Agency programs (or a certificate in health law in lieu of 1 year of required experience). Broad knowledge of the Indiana Medicaid program is required. Broad knowledge of Indiana Code and Federal and State programs that affect Agency is needed. Broad knowledge of legislation and rules that affect Agency is essential. Superior writing skills are a must.
