Legal Scholars Program Coordinator The candidate assists in the coordination of MMSP special events such as scholar receptions, conferences, and other events as planned. Leads logistical arrangements for the MMSP Selection Committee, including communications, scheduling and coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and attending meetings. Assists in preparing MMSP application materials. Records information from MMSP applicants; prepare summaries; save and file application information in an organized, accessible way to facilitate review. Prepares and sends correspondence to applicants and scholars. Maintains up-to-date applicant and scholar information in database and coordinate information exchange with other departments, especially Development and Communications. Serves as a point of contact for prospective applicants, answers questions, and engages in follow-up to ensure that no important application procedures or deadlines are missed. Develops a comprehensive communications plan to engage internal and external stakeholders. Serves as the liaison with internal and external communications partners to facilitate the design and development of MMSP marketing and communications tools and materials. Promotes and communicates with scholars, including organizing their attendance at LDF events and training; assisting in the coordination of their internships and fellowships. Updates the MMSP website as needed and ensures that updates are properly posted on LDF’s website and advertised on the Internet and social media. Collaborates with the Communications department to develop and implement a digital and social media strategy. Creates and maintains a database of prospective and current students and/or potential candidates that are a good fit for the MMSP. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification and ExperienceThe candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s/JD preferred. Should have 3 years of relevant experience. Commitment to the racial justice mission of LDF. Excellent writing, telephone and communications skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail. Possess excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills. Possess excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), social media, and internet research skills. Demonstrate superior administrative and program support. Must be highly motivated and have a commitment to civil rights. A minimum of 50 wpm typing speed with high degree of accuracy. The ability to work in a high paced environment. Flexibility with work schedule to meet the demands of a vital institutional support.
