Deputy Attorney General
Duties: Serve as 1 of 5 Deputy Attorneys General assigned as in-house counsel to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Duties include representing the Commission’s staff in utility rate cases and other litigated administrative proceedings, preparing pleadings and settlement documents, and otherwise coordinating the presentation of staff’s case. For the commissioners, Deputies prepare post-hearing decision memoranda, and opinions, orders and notices. Other duties may include reviewing and drafting contracts, rules, policies; and advising on employment matters, public records law and open meeting law issues, and other legal issues arising at the Commission.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification : Must have Active Idaho State Bar license (or ability to obtain active license by start date), with at least 2+ years of post-law school clerking or legal practice. Must have strong writing and editing skills. Ability to work independently, and to work well with others (including engineers, accountants, utility analysts, economists, and other professionals) is required. Must have knowledge of utility regulation typically can be acquired on-the-job. Familiarity with government practice, administrative law, appellate court practices, economics, finance, accounting, and antitrust would be helpful.
