ProfileSenior Counsel - Fuels The candidate will draft, review, and revise agreements and other complex legal documents to include contracts, franchise agreements, supply agreements, business-related documents such as policy manuals and handbooks, advertising and promotional materials, business program materials, press releases, and other company communications. Will provide legal counsel on legal matters related to Marketing to include terms of franchise and supply agreements, FDD compliance, pricing and antitrust compliance, and other regulatory and contractual compliance matters, permitting and licensing. Review proposed and existing legislation and regulations affecting company and provides legal advice, counseling, and guidance. Provide project leadership for assigned projects by leading, directing, coordinating or supervising small to large scale projects. Make appearances before governmental agencies and arbitration panels as required. Participate in negotiations and consultations either alone or with outside counsel and with company management. Negotiate resolution of claims and litigation against company. Manage outside counsel fees and budgets to achieve quality, cost effective legal services and representation. Establish measures used to evaluate cost vs. effectiveness of legal services and provide reports to key employees and management. Keep abreast of issues and developments in legal specialty areas by reading articles, attending professional conferences and conferring with professional experts. Conduct client training on matters such as careful communications, regulatory and statutory compliance, and contract negotiations and compliance.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a JD degree. Should have 8 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/ industrial environment and/ or a law firm. Must have current license to practice law in Texas or applicable states in which company has operations. Should have knowledge of or ability to gain expertise regarding Petroleum Marketing Practices Act and similar industry-specific legislation.
