Associate Editor – Job Description

  1. Core Skills Necessary
    1. Highly proficient with editing and writing, both for the web and for print
    2. Proficient with Word
    3. Proven, practical experience in the fields of corporate governance, securities law, and executive compensation disclosure (ideally including in-house and/or SEC experience). Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of experience.
    4. Highly proficient with research & analysis
    5. Strong organizational and project management skills
    6. Ability to work independently and work in small teams
    7. Ability to organize & keep track of content on websites (to enable updating, etc.)
    8. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in dealing with member inquiries and concerns

 

  1. As with any organization, the role will evolve over time with the needs of our organization and your skill set – as well as the needs of our members. At this time, the role includes the following:
    1. Responsible for annual and real-time updates to In-House Essentials Treatise, Proxy Season Disclosure Treatise, and Executive Compensation Disclosure Treatise (including tracking regulatory & best practice updates throughout the year, working with copywriter to process edits and working with webmaster to post new handbooks to sites; each treatise totals ~1600-2000 pages)
    2. Responsible for as-needed updates to checklists, and periodic updates to the Practical Corporate Governance Treatise (including tracking updates to regulations, best practices and investor policies, working with webmaster to post updated content to sites, and with copyrighter to process print edits)
    3. Add/update content on sites, respond to what members send, etc.
    4. Assist with webcasts (includes running programs, editing transcripts and corresponding with speakers)
    5. Draft & post blogs
    6. Prepare monthly Eminders newsletter and review related marketing blasts
    7. Prepare Quarterly CS newsletters and review related marketing blasts
    8. Create & manage responses to “Quick Surveys”
    9. Develop and draft new Practice Areas or other new pages for sites (this will vary in complexity: half will be quick compilations – the other half would require some research and analysis and take more time)
    10. Answer/coordinate answers to appropriate Q&As on all sites as necessary
    11. Assist as needed with research, writing & reviewing print newsletters (for both substantive content and spelling, grammar, format, etc.)
    12. Assist with updates to “In-House Accelerator” and “Deal University”
    13. Conduct occasional podcasts for sites
    14. Assist as needed with site maintenance
    15. Assist as needed with marketing blasts
    16. Assist as needed with conference tasks (including preparation of conference materials)
