Elder Law Paralegal / Case Manager Duties: Serves as Case Manager on assigned client files including direct communication with clients; drafting Estate Planning and Elder Law documents, management of client files and assisting Elder Law attorneys with Medical Assistance, Veteran’s Home and VA Aid & Attendance applications, and Life Care Planning files for client meetings. Direct responsibility for the following: Manage and marshal deadlines and expectations for clients. Act as primary point of contact on long-term care planning files. Draft Medical Assistance (MA) letters and other correspondence. Prepare estate planning documents - POA’s, HCD, Wills, Real Estate documents, Family Trust Agreements, Personal Service Agreements, and other documents as necessary. Manage follow-up on recommendations made in MA planning letter with clients. Request information needed to complete the MA application from clients based on information from the long-term care planner, the client and the attorney. Prepare letters to client, NH and county regarding initiating MA applications. Meet with client and follow-up as necessary to obtain verifications for MA applications. Complete paperwork (Medical Assistance applications and other documents) required by the county in the application process. Meet with the county caseworker to initiate the application as necessary. Prepare paperwork and request to clients for information needed to complete Veteran’s Home and Veteran’s Aid & Attendance applications. Meet or schedule phone interview with Veteran’s Service Officer to make the Aid & Attendance application.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Paralegal certificate and 3 – 5 years legal experience, preferably in elder law matters. Experience in managing client files, drafting long-term care planning documents (i.e. Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, Wills, Trusts) and real estate documents is preferred. Experience with Medical Assistance and VA applications helpful. Will have sharp analytical and organizational skills, strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, attention to detail, ability to work proactively, multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing priorities. A high-energy, outgoing person who enjoys dealing with people and variety in their day—a real team player, with great communication skills and a positive attitude towards customer service.
