A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits and executive compensation law, with experience in drafting, designing, and administering various plans and arrangements. This role requires high academic achievement, law firm experience, and exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft, design, and implement tax-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, as well as health and welfare benefit plans.
  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Advise on executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Address taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements, including Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Design and draft employment agreements and other executive compensation arrangements.
  • Provide strategic guidance on benefits and compensation matters to clients.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Draft clear and comprehensive legal documents and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proven experience in drafting, designing, implementing, and administering retirement and benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements.
  • Experience with executive compensation aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Strong academic credentials with high achievement in law school.
  • Exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • JD required.
  • Prior law firm experience is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Bar and in good standing.
