ProfileFamily Law Legal Assistant The candidate will assist the attorney in family law cases and handle some elements of cases independently. Responsibilities will include assisting attorneys with all aspects of case management. Primary responsibilities will include transcribing attorney dictations, handling routine communications with both clients and opposing parties, drafting pre-litigation demands, drafting form pleadings and discovery, preparing subpoenas and deposition notices, cite checking, implementing information retrieval and management systems, assisting attorneys in trial, and other related duties as required. Secondary responsibilities will include managing telephone calls, maintaining attorney calendar, setting up files, monitoring and maintenance of paper and electronic case files, ensuring mail is taken out and picked up daily, office is kept organized and clean, and other administrative tasks as required. Must have 2 years of law office experience. A paralegal certificate and/or associates degree is preferred. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), strong organizational skills, an attention to detail, the ability to multitask and work independently to manage a large caseload under minimal supervision, meet critical deadlines, have a professional attitude.
