ProfileAssistant General Counsel The candidate will serve as primary internal legal advisor for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other growth-oriented transactions. Will draft and negotiate contracts, counsel commercial team members, and manage outside counsel for each of the foregoing. Provide legal advice with respect to project development activities, including drafting and negotiating site acquisition contracts, state and local incentive arrangements, rail transportation and other logistics contracts, construction contracts, and fiber feedstock contracts. Supervise outside counsel retained for litigation and other disputes. Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, review and draft miscellaneous legal contracts, present clear recommendations, and ensure legal compliance across the full spectrum of legal issues facing the company. Participate in establishing the company’s legal policies, goals, and objectives.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. Degree from an accredited law school. Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state. Must have 5 years’ relevant experience with an international law firm representing clients in the traditional or renewable energy space. Demonstrated experience establishing credibility and rapport with executive-level management is required. Strong competency in drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts is required.
