Associate Corporate Counsel for Professional Responsibility RESPONSIBILITIES: Working closely with leaders in the ACLU’s national litigation department, which includes a total of approximately 100 attorneys, the Associate Corporate Counsel for Professional. Regular training on ethics compliance and other related topics. Counseling on ethics and risk management questions arising from litigation matters. Advice regarding procedures and standards for intake, conflicts checks, records management, matter publicity, use of technology and other practice management topics. Drafting and maintenance of model documents such as client engagement letters. Legal support for the drafting of agreements with litigation-related parties including co-counsel agreements and engagements of experts. Guidance of insurance and risk management programs for litigation activities. In addition, as a part of the Office of Corporate Counsel, the Associate Corporate Counsel for Professional Responsibility will work with other attorneys in that office handling corporate matters such as intellectual property, regulatory compliance, employment and volunteer engagement, technology, and operations, and will be help ensure that litigation-related activities are appropriately coordinated with organizational standards and practices in these regards.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: JD Degree from an accredited law school, and admitted to practice in New York State or able to secure such admission shortly. 3+ years of experience providing legal professional responsibility counseling or closely related legal services under U.S. law. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills; verbal and writing. Excellent legal research and legal briefing skills. Ability to handle confidential organizational matters. Demonstrated interest in, and command over, a range of legal professional responsibility and related practice of law topics. Excellent time management skills; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under strict deadlines.
