Legal Assistant 4 DUTIES: Reporting to the Senior Program Administrator, supervises nine Legal Assistant 3s (Judicial Appeals Analysts) within the New Appeals section. Supervising, assigning work, training, and evaluating performance of staff. Coordinates the work unit operations with regard to Judicial Appeals Analysts functions. Assigning docketing of new appeals received. Assisting the Senior Program Administrator with the establishment of work procedures, standards, priorities and deadlines. Assisting the New Appeals Assistant Chief Judge with meeting scheduling and minutes, data retrieval, and report tracking. Maintaining and updating the New Appeals Manual.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant 3 (formerly Legal Secretary 2). / High school diploma or equivalent AND 5 years of experience in a legal environment in support of an attorney, administrative law judge(s), industrial insurance appeals judges(s), review judges(s) or equivalent. OR A two-year degree in Legal Secretary Studies, Paralegal Studies or related field AND 3 years of legal office experience. OR A combination of 6 years of college education and/or relevant experience including 2 years of supervising, leading, mentoring, coaching or training experience. Desired Qualifications: 1+ year of experience as a Judicial Appeals Analyst with the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals. Supervisory experience in a legal environment. Previous legal work dealing with claims management or workers compensation law. Paralegal experience. Experience using LINIIS and ORION. Computer skills (Word, Excel, database, Outlook, Internet, etc.). Customer service skills. Communication skills – written and verbal. Ability to take direction and lead. Excellent organizational/time management skills. Excellent Attendance/punctuality/reliability.
