Assistant General Counsel, Integrated Marketplace
Duties: Interacting with and advising cross-functional legal and business teams involved in the sale, licensing and distribution of products. Structuring, drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of agreements related to the business and operations. Identifying legal issues, providing analysis of legal risks, creating and implementing solutions structured to achieve business objectives efficiently. Anticipating internal and external business issues and recommending product, process or service improvements. Coordinating the legal team’s support of a variety of distribution, digital and physical sales, commercial, and strategic and integrated marketplace initiatives. Advising, counseling and influencing business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters associated with antitrust/competition law. Preparing and delivering training programs designed to enhance compliance, and manage risk. Leading and influencing business stakeholders regarding the resolution of potential and pending legal issues. Selecting, retaining and managing outside legal counsel to ensure high-value, cost-effective representation. Ensuring that Legal serves the business at the speed of Triple Double strategy, while effectively managing enterprise risks. Cultivating a diverse and inclusive corporate culture.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A JD Degree or equivalent. Member, in good standing, of at least one U.S. state Bar or equivalent. 7+ years within a major law firm or corporate legal department (or combination of both), with primary emphasis on corporate, transactional, marketing, general business and commercial law. Ability and experience working closely and collaboratively with international counterparts in developing business strategies and in performing technical legal analysis focused on maximizing business opportunities and minimizing risks that account for multiple legal jurisdictions.. Extensive experience with the global manufacturing, marketing, sale and distribution of products is preferred. Experience with counseling and advising on antitrust/competition law matters relating to sales and distribution is preferred. Seasoned communication skills – ability to influence at a variety of levels and across functions in a complex matrix organization are required. Fluency in English as a working language is required, fluency in additional languages is strongly preferred. Ability to lead, inspire, manage and positively influence others is required. Ability to recognize and elevate complex and/or controversial issues to senior management in a timely and effective manner. Must be a strategic thinker with a high tolerance for ambiguity and risk. Must have business deal-making and negotiation acumen. Must be able to quickly process, negotiate and draft complex legal agreements and documents. Must be a team player, have a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Must have a passion for the Nike brands.
