ProfileSenior Manager eDiscovery Duties: Guided by department objectives and priorities, responsible for all aspects of managing and improving firmwide litigation eDiscovery Resource Management systems and practices. Provide effective leadership and guidance to the eDiscovery Resources Management team. Promote departmentâ€™s effectiveness, including assessing team and client needs; organizing and directing workflow; training, coaching and motivating team. Ensure client service and satisfaction is attained in all relevant areas of the position. Develop and implement strategic plans for providing effective case management services to the Firmâ€™s clients; establish best practices and roles for all phases of eDiscovery including planning, budgeting, data management and reporting tools. Establish and implement relevant technology to effectively support the litigation practice; recommend practices and systems that are consistent across offices and in line with the business goals of the Firm and eDiscovery strategic plans. Make strategic recommendations and tactical plans to ensure the Firmâ€™s litigation practice is using appropriate and cost effective technologies to manage discovery process. Lead post-project analyses to discover workflow inefficiencies and obstacles; identify, design, and apply responsive quality control processes and improvements for the discovery process. Manage the development and maintenance of all ERM documentation relating to internal processes, workflows, and litigation support information. Provide appropriate eDiscovery and litigation technology consulting services to clients, attorneys, paralegals and support staff. Oversee the development and delivery of litigation case team training on effective document review protocol with appropriate electronic document review platforms. Ensure firmwide technical assistance is available for all Firm-supported litigation software and tools and vendor hosted technology. Communicate, market, and promote use of litigation technology, ERM services and products supported by the Firm. Oversee the relationship with the Firmâ€™s eDiscovery managed services partner to maintain a high level of support with continued improvements to workflows and cost management. Participate in contract negotiations. Responsible for ensuring efficient operations, relevant reporting and project-level quality control measures, delegating tasks as appropriate. Work with provider to optimize efficient use of managed services environment and services. Develop and maintain a group of preferred service providers that can support firmwide litigation cases; evaluate vendor use statistics and service levels.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelorâ€™s degree required; JD Degree strongly preferred. 8+ years of experience in the field, with 3 years in a management role. 2+ years large law firm experience required. Experience working across global organization is strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic discovery legal and technical issues and how they impact the litigation process. Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and network technologies. Experience with eDiscovery hosted review applications and service models; knowledge of common industry processing, review and analytics options for efficient electronic data management. Teamwork and Applied Skills Ability to identify strategic objectives within the position, and to act effectively on big picture priorities and business needs. Strong team player skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all levels of an organization. Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly. Ability to anticipate department and project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team based in different offices and time zones. A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
