Staff Attorney The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing assistance, consultation and representation to victims of domestic abuse based on their needs with a focus on protection from abuse, divorce, and child custody actions. Working as part of the Legal Team, will ensures the provision of consistent, high-quality legal assistance and appropriate referrals to the organization’s current and future clients. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of staff and a changing client population, have an appreciation for advocacy work, and demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills. Prior experience working with people affected by abuse, and with consensus decision-making, is a plus. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Maine, and have a working knowledge of the role of civil and criminal law in safety planning for people affected by domestic violence and abuse.
