Legal Counsel - MBU Responsibilities: Provide legal support to the exploration and production business on the full scope of its operations and projects; Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements and other documents, including: Leases, Joint operating agreements, Surface use agreements, Other exploration and production agreements, Permitting documents for various regulatory bodies, Goods and services agreements, Confidentiality agreements. Intercompany services agreements for the shared services; Proactively make recommendations to protect the companyâ€™s interests; Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to the environment; Interact with regulatory agencies as required; Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and identify areas for improvement; Monitor and oversee outside counsel fees and expenses and work product to maintain cost effective and high quality outside support; Interface on relevant legal matters with colleagues in the United States, Canada, Spain and possibly other countries; Work closely with and develop strong relationships with the Business Unit team leaders to facilitate business goals and objectives; Work as a team with other departments to ensure issues are examined from all necessary angles.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania or another U.S. jurisdiction; 5+ years of relevant transactional experience working in a law firm, or practicing as in-house counsel for an energy company; Experience working on environmental matters relevant to the oil and gas industry; Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and oral) are required; Must have the ability to manage a variety of time sensitive demands; Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, judgment, enthusiasm and interpersonal skills.
