A law firm seeks a driven and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its Indianapolis office in the Commercial Litigation practice. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3 to 7 years of experience in litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing cases, from drafting legal documents to appearing in court, while also contributing to the success of the team. Duties:

  • Draft legal memoranda, motions, and other court filings.
  • Appear in court to argue motions and represent clients in hearings.
  • Draft and respond to written discovery requests.
  • Take and defend depositions, gathering critical information for litigation.
  • Manage smaller cases independently with limited supervision.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on larger, more complex litigation matters.
  • Assist in the development of case strategies and offer legal insights.
  • Foster client relationships, providing guidance and updates as cases progress.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases, from initial discovery to court appearances.
  • Experience drafting and responding to legal motions and discovery.
  • Strong academic background with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to take initiative and manage cases with limited supervision.
  • Eagerness to contribute to a collaborative team and support senior attorneys.
  • High level of commitment and motivation to work toward a partnership role.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Indiana Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Legal Writing: Proficient in drafting legal memoranda, motions, and responses to discovery.
  • Courtroom Advocacy: Comfortable arguing motions and representing clients in hearings.
  • Discovery Process: Experienced in drafting and responding to written discovery.
  • Deposition Skills: Ability to take and defend depositions effectively.
  • Case Management: Capable of managing smaller cases independently and supporting larger ones.
  • Team Collaboration: Works well within a team, contributing to shared goals.
  • Client Relations: Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
