Job Overview:
A prominent law firm with multiple offices across Louisiana and Texas is currently seeking an ambitious Tax Associate to join their team in New Orleans. This position offers the opportunity for long-term career growth, with a clear partnership track. The successful candidate will provide expert advice on federal, state, and local tax matters, corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and various client needs within the tax landscape.

Duties:

  • Advise individual and business clients on a wide range of federal, state, and local tax issues
  • Assist with corporate formations, acquisitions, mergers, and restructurings
  • Address tax implications of different business structures and entity choices
  • Represent clients in federal tax audits and administrative appeals
  • Work alongside clients to navigate state and local tax authorities
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on complex tax matters

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree with an . in Taxation
  • Willingness to obtain the Louisiana or Texas Bar if not already licensed in LA or TX
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a desire to contribute as part of a collaborative team
  • Exceptional academic record
  • Excellent communication, research, and writing abilities
  • Acute attention to detail, particularly with filing deadlines
  • Previous CPA background, governmental tax experience, or exposure to international tax matters is a plus

Education:

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in any state (willingness to transfer to LA or TX Bar if licensed elsewhere)
