Paralegal The candidate provides support and assistance to the company's in-house legal group. Will be responsible for using their knowledge and skills to assist in managing the company's litigation / regulatory matters, enhance the company's processes, and help to maintain the company's ethical and compliance standards. Will report to staff or corporate counsel and will collaborate with other in-house counsel / paralegals and outside attorneys in pursuit of company goals and objectives. Assist in legal research and factual investigations; document gathering; large document productions; assist in management of docket or contested litigation as required by the attorney (Internal Legal).Identify process improvements to ensure company compliance with legal requirements or to increase department efficiency. Initial review, analysis of incoming pleadings, correspondence and other legal documents; drafting pleadings, settlement agreements, dismissals, discovery, legal correspondence and memoranda for attorney review as required. Interact with Midland outside counsel and Midland employees to gather information, documentation or data as required for task at hand, or act as authorized to resolve the identified matter. Work on special projects as required. High School Diploma required. Paralegal Certificate highly preferred. Should have 1+ year Paralegal / Secretarial experience, or equivalent education and experience. Proficiency with MS Office. Understanding of FDCPA / FCRA / regulatory requirements. Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and work in a rapidly changing environment. Prior experience in a corporate setting is essential.
