ProfileAttorney â€“ Advisor, GS-11/12 Duties: Provide legal advice and support to ITA on U.S. and international law as these impact U.S. international trade, investment, competition, anticorruption, and exports. Must be able to handle a variety of assignments with short, time-critical deadlines. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills suitable for successfully working on a team with ITA and other attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel on projects that require legal analysis. Work closely with ITA staff in developing and implementing programs, ensuring their consistency with legal requirements. Work will involve legal review of ITAâ€™s programs, agreements, briefing materials, and correspondence for legal accuracy. Also be expected to analyze legal risks and develop recommendations that minimize these risks.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : Must possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and be an active member of the Bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) in good standing. Must provide proof of an active bar membership in good standing of the Bar of a State, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Must demonstrate successful completion of law school courses in international trade or investment. Coursework in international law, international business transactions, international dispute resolution, comparative law, administrative law, and competition law is desirable. Should preferably have a strong academic record from an institution with a developed international law program. Must possess 1-4 years of professional legal experience following law school. Should preferably have experience in the practice of international trade or investment law, specifically involving multilateral or bilateral trade-related agreements or arrangements.
