Legal Assistant The candidate work for a two year contract in southern Egypt. Will perform a variety of legal, writing, research and administrative duties, sometimes complex and confidential in nature, to satisfy normal operational requirements. Drafts and/or assists with the drafting and review of Treaty Violation Reports and Closing Reports on Treaty incidents. Provides guidance and oversight to Duty Investigator teams on Treaty Investigations . Liaises with the Civilian Observer Unit on all observations that present a potential violation of the Treaty. During the FCN's absence, in consultation with the General Counsel and SOLO, assumes primary responsibility at the Force for drafting all legal documents and correspondence issued by the FC or his delegate. Acts as a support resource and back-up to FCN on matters relating to interpretation and application of the security provisions of Treaty-related issues , including review of past virep precedents . Advises FCN when incidents fall within previous legal interpretations. Represents the FCN at Commander 's Update Briefs , Cabinets, and other meetings/conferences in FCN absence. Prepares initial draft of Monthly Summary of Incidents and Findings and final draft of Monthly Summary of Serious Incident Reports (SIR) for HQ. Drafts or assists with the drafting and review of initial incident reports for SIRs, tracks the SIR process in order to ensure expeditious actions are taken in order to close out the case, and prepares drafts of follow-up SIRs until closure. Drafts or assists in the drafting convening orders for FCN review for Formal Investigations. Provides guidance and technical assistance to Boards of Inquiry and Formal Investigations. Assists FCN in providing information to key staff on Treaty­ related matters and on every subject area that may have affected the Force since its inception. Reviews and provides input to the preparation of all Force Military Police Unit (FMPU) reports. Assists the FMPU in their conduct of investigations pertaining to SIRs and/or routine reports by suggesting lines of questioning, areas of useful investigation and similar assistance and by ensuring that accurate references are made to FSOPs, FSOs, and/or Directives. Prepares drafts of claims for HQ to recover money for damages incurred by vehicles as a result of accidents involving gross negligence. Undergoes Duty Investigator training and takes part in Duty Investigations as required. Prepares vehicle accident reports for insurance companies in Egypt and Israel. Maintains extensive archives of Force documents and files. Prepares correspondence, and, when asked , minutes of meetings from written drafts and/or dictation. Must be College Graduate or Post-High School Paralegal or Legal Assistant Certification. Should have 5 years' experience in legal assistance or paralegal service. Must possess excellent writing and communication skills. Proficiency in word processing and computer literacy are essential.
