Legal Secretary - Criminal District Attorney The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of legal secretarial and complex clerical duties. Performs a variety of support tasks including providing full clerical, administrative and general office support for attorneys. Serves the general public on legal matters. Performs full clerical, administrative, and general office support for attorneys and investigators. Receives and screens telephone calls, letters, and visitors, and refers to appropriate person and takes messages as needed. Answers routine questions and furnishes information as needed. Deals effectively with clients, witnesses, court personnel and defense attorneys. Organizes and maintains department and case related files, databases and records on paper and electronically. Prepares and processes correspondence, legal papers, and documents requiring knowledge of legal format, terminology, and procedures. Gathers and researches relevant data or documents and prepares regular reports and legal documents for review. Assembles and compiles data for reports or presentations from a variety of sources as needed. Responds to routine requests for information and answers routine correspondence not requiring supervisor's attention. Refers complex requests to appropriate staff member. Drafts routine letters and memoranda for review and supervisor's signature. Copies documents as needed. Schedules and maintains calendar of appointments, meetings, hearings, trial dates, deadlines, etc. Notarizes documents for assigned attorneys or general public as needed. Must have High school diploma or equivalent. Should have 4+ years legal or related experience (e.g. court room, law firm, legal services).
