Immigration Legal Assistant Duties: Serving the migrant community with the utmost respect, dignity, and a high level of professionalism. Make everyone that walks through doors feel welcomed and respected. Will do everything they can to win their case and facilitate the legal process for them. Perform some legal research as needed. Draft legal documents for review by attorney. Must be able to manage complex tasks efficiently; prioritize work load in extremely time-sensitive field of law; meet strict deadlines; be extremely detail oriented and have the ability to edit carefully; provide outstanding service to the families we serve; be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced changing environment; organized; self-motivated with strong initiative; have a positive attitude; have a professional demeanor in appearance and manner. An ideal candidate will be energetic, quick learner, self-starter, knowledge of immigration law (family and deportation defense), ability to handle calls, and follow direction from attorneys. In addition to the general job description there is filing, scanning, copying, and other miscellaneous activities that require a well skilled multi-tasker.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Associates, or bachelors degree preferred. 2-3 years of experience in immigration law. Experience with the preparation and filing of immigration applications and petitions with government agencies. Have excellent communication skills. 3 years of experience in immigration law. Experience with Removal/deportation Defense, Asylum, U Visas and Family based petitions, DACA, Permanent Residencies, Naturalization and Consular Processing, Cancellation of Removal, FOIA's, Bond Packets, Asylum Applications, Adjustment of Status Forms, Motions. Have excellent communication skills. BILINGUAL is a must. Ability to handle critical and constructive feedback. Strong work ethic and an all in attitude. Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office, Word, Excel. Writing & Internet Research Skills. Organized with attention to detail. Sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations. Must be dedicated to the mission of advocating for the rights of immigrant and Latino communities. Great communication and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills.
