Job Title: Legal Assistant II
Job Responsibilities:
The position of Legal Assistant II involves performing mid-level legal assistant and administrative duties for a Staff Counsel Office at the company. The role requires the development of a working knowledge of legal concepts, practices, and Staff Counsel procedures applicable by jurisdiction. Key responsibilities include drafting and revising routine legal documents, managing multiple administrative and legal tasks to support attorneys, and participating in the preparation of pleadings, routine motions, notices, jury demands, and routine discovery. Additional duties involve reviewing invoices, preparing and sending checks, providing training and onboarding support for Staff Counsel Support Staff, and maintaining relationships with attorneys, outside departments, courts, clients, and third parties.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a minimum of four years of experience as a legal secretary, paralegal, or legal assistant handling personal injury litigation matters. Candidates must be capable of performing essential functions such as seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking, with or without accommodation. The role involves a combination of sitting, walking, kneeling, climbing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must possess strong organizational and priority-setting skills, the ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and the capability to multi-task. Additionally, candidates should be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Depending on the jurisdiction, obtaining and maintaining a notary license may be required. A typing speed of at least 40 words per minute is also necessary.
Salary Information:
Salary and grade for the Legal Assistant II position will be commensurate with experience.
