Job Overview:
A prominent law firm seeks an experienced and proactive attorney to join their Medical Malpractice/Healthcare Litigation team. This role involves defending healthcare professionals and facilities against malpractice claims, and providing an opportunity for independent work while collaborating with senior litigators. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of relevant experience, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to manage client relationships.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to devise defense strategies for medical malpractice cases.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery, memos, briefs, and motions.
  • Analyze medical records to support litigation efforts.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and conferences related to litigation.
  • Engage with medical experts to assist in case preparation and strategy.
  • Conduct legal and medical research to support defense cases.
  • Manage multiple legal projects and priorities effectively.
  • Foster relationships with clients, providing updates, and handling inquiries.

Requirements:

  • Admission to practice law in New York State.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in medical malpractice or healthcare litigation.
  • Proven ability to manage litigation cases independently.
  • Strong background in analyzing medical records and understanding medical terminology.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York State.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and medical professionals.
