Deputy Director Of Programs The candidate will manage programmatic work to ensure we reach our ambitious goals. Supervise department heads of Policy/Advocacy, Government Affairs, Strategic Communications and Organizing. Provide strategic support to teams in developing goals and integrated work plans that result in measurable gains for immigrants and their families and communities. Regularly review these goals and plans with each team to adjust priorities and strategies. Supervise programs and campaigns (directly and indirectly) and their successful execution and work with key staff in developing and identifying advocacy goals and annual policy agenda. Ensure that the work is well coordinated and integrated across teams and with key partners, and ensure that cross-team projects have clearly defined roles, goals, and systems for managing the work effectively. Engage in ongoing conversations with partners to develop coordinated strategies and plans that recognize partners’ respective strengths. Oversee the recruitment and hiring of talented staff, including working with department directors to persuade highly sought-after people to join the team as the organization grows. Inform, monitor and manage the various program departments’ annual operating plans and budgets, in collaboration with the Operations Department. Allocate departmental resources to highest priorities and ensure the departments stay on budget. Partner with all department leads to ensure continuing high performance, and to make sure that strong performers are retained and that staff have opportunities to learn and grow in their roles. Actively engage in Board relations and support fundraising goals by participating in presentations to funders and other activities, as needed. Exemplify mission, culture and values. Maintain and produce regular reports detailing progress towards program goals. Work with Policy Director to monitor and analyze relevant activity in D.C. (in the executive branch and peer organizations) and follow implementation of new laws and regulations at the statewide level to make recommendations and adjustments to organizational strategy. Work closely with concerned senior team to produce issue briefs and other publications. Manage lobbying compliance: ensure that all activities are within the federal H limits, and state and/or regional tracking is done accurately and regularly. Work closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director of Operations to plan and launch a 501(c)(4) within the next 2-3 years. Must have 10-12 years of experience in designing and managing strategic advocacy programs and campaigns, legislative and strategy development and coalition building for immigrant rights, health policy, immigrant integration and/or economic justice and a demonstrated ability to lead. Demonstrated ability to translate findings into policy and/or programming is essential. Experience with California State Legislature is a plus. Project management and budget management skills a plus. Should have experience working with immigrant rights organizations and impacted immigrant communities. Proficiency in Spanish or an API language a plus. Law degree or a graduate degree required. Master's degree is essential.
