Garnishment Specialist The candidate enters and answers withholding orders for Levies, Garnishments, Child Support, and other involuntary wage assignment orders within the regulated time period. Works closely with outside agencies to proactively resolve issues regarding withholding orders. Establishes and maintains complete electronic files (scanned) pertaining to all notices of withholding for all employees. Requests new vendors as appropriate. Assists all customers with garnishment inquiries by telephone and email. Process refunds of withholding due to late notification of termination orders. Maintains current knowledge of laws and regulations involving involuntary wage assignments for states assigned. Responds to wage subpoenas and written discoveries. Responsible for adhering to internal controls including SOX compliance. Provides support and assists in training new Garnishment associates as requested. Provides support to payroll processing and tax specialty areas as needed. Assist Garnishment Supervisor and Payroll Director with special projects as requested. Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks are needed. Should have 1-3 years of garnishment processing experience. Multi-state involuntary wage assignment experience is required. Should have the ability to partner effectively with garnishment team members and business partners. Should have the ability to work in a high volume processing environment. Legal knowledge regarding multiple withholding orders are needed. Payroll certification (CPP or FPC) is a plus. Large garnishment volume experience is a plus. Lawson application payroll experience is a plus. Paralegal experience is preferred. Knowledge of deductions and fiscal limitations are essential. Should have the ability to compute disposable income and interpret legal withholding orders. Should have the ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with customers and agencies. Knowledge of software includes Excel, Microsoft Word, email and comfort with software applications on a PC is required. Strong ethics and ability to keep information confidential is essential.
