Title Underwriting And Claims Counsel Duties: Underwriting support commercial and residential underwriting activity including: Review, revision and approval of high liability commercial commitments for survey and other underwriting issues; Review and issuance of high liability and commercial title insurance policies; Review of documentation for closings; and endorse pro-forma documentation for closings, and Review and analysis of agent closing and underwriting issues and questions. Claims Responsible for handling title claims and regulatory matters related to claims Manage portfolio of Claim files and provide research, analysis and response; Conduct thorough factual and legal investigation and develop claims resolution strategy accordingly; Determining subrogation and recoupment potential to minimize potential loss; Prepare briefs, opinions and reports, based on research; Hiring and managing outside counsel as necessary while maintaining accountability for strategic direction, reviewing and coordinating work with outside counsel; Speaking at seminars and other forums to provide education on claim information, experiences, sources and claims prevention; Monitoring compliance with laws, regulations, standards and various rulings from governmental agencies. Research and prepare a regular article on relevant topics to distribute to agents; Develop proficiency in ATGFs web-based electronic policy issuance capability (EPIC) system; Contribute to ongoing development of EPIC system; Business development and marketing of ATGF services.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Licensed Attorney; 5 years of related experience working in the title industry; Licensed Utah Producer; Microsoft applications, title software, application development; Exceptional interpersonal skill, mentoring, leadership and team orientation; Closing and escrow knowledge and experience a plus. Experience as title underwriter; Experience handling title claims; Early adopter on new technology; Creative thinker and problem solver; Ability to research and analyze issues and procedures; Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, both in person and by phone; Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with agents and co-workers; Ability to think conceptually, analyze data, draw conclusions and write reports; Ability to deal effectively with employees, management, and agents on a one-to-one and group basis; Ability to multi-task in a high stress environment; Work-flow Management; Desire and ability to develop and grow the companys search and exam services.
