Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on privacy and data protection matters, including state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.
  • Advise clients on compliance with privacy and security obligations, including contractual and legal requirements.
  • Respond to and manage data security incidents, including conducting investigations and coordinating with technical experts.
  • Defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and security breaches.
  • Develop and implement privacy and security policies and procedures.
  • Draft and review privacy notices, data processing agreements, and other documents.
  • Work closely with clients and internal teams to address complex privacy and security issues.
  • Stay updated on changes in data privacy and security laws and regulations.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex issues into understandable terms.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, including advising on compliance and handling data security incidents.
  • Experience in a law firm or in-house privacy and cybersecurity breach response or litigation experience with a demonstrated interest in privacy and cybersecurity.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex workload in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in Ohio.
