ProfileParalegal Candidate will conducts legal research and drafts various legal documents. Assists in the preparation and analysis of documents in all phases of litigation, including prosecution and defense of legal actions in courts and administrative tribunals including labor arbitrations. Prepares and analyzes discovery, pleadings, motions, briefs and other legal documents; coordinate witnesses and compile and file documents. Prepares documents and prepares and responds to discovery requests. Drafts and files discovery requests to opposing parties. Compiles documents to comply with various court and administrative orders. Works with Accounts Payable department to collect vendor information and W-9 form to ensure timely payment of invoices and accountability. Summarizes and analyzes legal documents, as needed. Conducts legal research to assist in case preparation and development. Coordinates meetings and witness interviews for administrative, court, and other proceedings. Responds to Arbitrator and opposing parties. Obtains and coordinates evidence and documents, calendars for deadlines and conducts research. Copies files and other documents for production and review. Prepares legal documents, including but not limited to memoranda, briefs, complaints, subpoenas, letters, etc. Maintains case and other administrative files, court calendars, litigation and administrative timetables. Handles and answers routine phone inquiries. Attends meetings, depositions, hearings and trials to assist Staff Attorney. Updates legal materials and secondary and tertiary research materials and software to ensure law library is current. Prepares various reports and spreadsheets and inputs data into case/matter tracking software. Inputs all time spent on legal matters using agency legal time and billing software.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications. Associate's Degree in paralegal studies and 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal. Background and experience in civil litigation, personal injury, and employment and labor law. Certified Paralegal (CP) from NALA or NFPA or acknowledgement through the Florida Bar Registered Paralegal Program. Ability to work independently, exercises professional, sound judgment and works with minimal supervision. Ability to work under stress. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a timely fashion on multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines. Ability to establish and implement new procedures. Ability to read and interpret legal documents. Ability to accurately memorize and retain details. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to perform calculations with accuracy. Analytical/problem solving ability. Ability to prepare complex reports. Ability to perform legal research using various methods including computer research. Ability to interview witnesses and summarize witness interviews.Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy.
