We are looking for attorneys with excellent credentials interested in our Criminal Division. The Criminal Division has openings in various sections, including: Criminal Appeals, Medicaid Fraud, Public Safety (special prosecutions, habeas, and sexually violent predator unit), and Cold Case. A description of these sections may be found at: . The Attorney General's Office offers something for everyone. The office offers opportunities to gain experience in anything from prosecuting Medicaid Fraud to week-long criminal jury trials, or arguing criminal felony appeals in state appellate courts. Preferred experience/skills: Criminal prosecution experience Appellate experience Motion practice, grand jury proceedings, and court appearances Handling pre-filing investigation, discovery, and depositions Courtroom and trial experience Drafting documents and correspondence State court familiarity Commitment to public service Excellent legal writing/oral advocacy Opportunities Offered: Prosecution of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanor fraud to homicide Courtroom and jury trial experience Handling litigation from case initiation through appeal Practice in many of the 114 counties in the state at all levels Practice in both the state and federal courts Appellate practice Review of investigations The AGO Advantage: More experience and opportunities than a private law office Immediately work on cases that affect policy and have a statewide impact Attorneys are responsible for their own case load Mentoring and guidance from experienced attorneys and colleagues Regular interactions with clients, including state agency heads and general counsels State and health retirement benefits Eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness Eligible candidates should be licensed to practice law in Missouri or eligible for a temporary license (Rule ).
