IP & Commercial Counsel The candidate will manage outside counsel regarding global IP portfolio (clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement). Oversee day-to-day design/utility patent and enforcement efforts. Advise internal clients on copyright, trademark, design & utility patent legal issues and strategy. Structure, draft and negotiate various agreements, including collaboration agreements. Support integration of IP practices in company’s culture through trainings/meetings with brand teams. Support the development and substantive work of paralegals on the team. Respond promptly to legal requests from business summarizing and communicating legal concepts that business people can use. Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree. Admitted to the Bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in California. Should have 3-6 years attorney work experience in intellectual property matters and contract law. Significant experience drafting and negotiating agreements and contracts. Experience with IP counseling, with utility patent focus a plus. Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive matters in the appropriate manner. Ability to interface well with all levels in the Company, including but not limited to ELT, product designers and developers, marketing teams, and outside law firms. Can prioritize effectively, multi-task, pivot quickly and work efficiently in a busy setting, with minimal supervision. Ability to remain calm and productive under pressure. Willing to step outside of comfort zone and take on stretch projects.
