Nurse Paralegal - Health Law Duties: Organize in-patient and out-patient medical charts; Review medical records to identify missing records and other providers in contact with patient; Prepare chronologies summarizing medical records; Prepare subpoenas and related documents necessary to obtain medical records; Maintain expert tracking sheets and subpoena charts showing what records have been obtained, record sources and potential follow-up to be performed; Prepare packages of records for expert witness review; Identify and interview potential expert witnesses; Arrange for and attend attorney conferences with experts; Assist with transfer of all necessary records, pleadings, and depositions to treating health care providers and experts.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: BA/BS Degree. RN Degree. 1-3 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation preferred. Prior experience billing time is also preferred. Knowledge of medical terms. Previous malpractice support experience preferred. Intermediate to advanced technical skills using Microsoft Office Suite. Prior data base experience and Internet research skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
