ProfileDeputy Chief of Quality Assurance The candidate will serve as the Deputy Chief of Quality Assurance. Role in the Bureau is to ensure that potable water is delivered at the appropriate pressure and volume to consumers throughout the five boroughs. Will be an integral part of the Division reporting directly to the Director of Distribution Operations. Manage of staff of engineers ensuring quality assurance of materials that are incorporated in the Bureauâ€™s infrastructure. Maintains control of and ensures that the Bureau Specifications comply with current standards and operational needs. Perform metallurgical review of pipe failures and prepares reports on the findings. Responsible for ensuring periodic inspection and maintenance of cathodic protection systems on the water infrastructure. Reviews and approves proposed cathodic protection systems. Reviews and approves mechanical systems and materials to be used in our infrastructure. Prepares highly complicated and detailed specifications. May represent agency and testify in court cases. May visits manufacturing plants, construction site and locations of water main breaks.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and 5 years of experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. Must have a four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and 9 years of experience; 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for 1 year of the required experience. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 10 years or more in relevant engineering field required. Professional Engineering License. Possess certifications from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers essential.
