Legal Assistant The candidate will answer telephone, calendar appointments, and take messages. Will gather, track and record client data. Meet with clients, gather supporting documents, prepare translations. Engage in community outreach. Prepare filings for immigration court and for the Department of Homeland Security. Manage both electronic and paper case file including client case log. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Previous experience working in a law office is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with immigrant, low-income and/or vulnerable populations are essential. Capacity for working both independently and on team projects are needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed. Excellent organizational skills are essential. Proficient in use of technology including MS Office, Google Apps and Internet research are needed. Possession of Bachelor's degree or comparable knowledge and work experience is needed. Fluency (written and verbal) in both the Spanish and English language is needed.
