Fall Internship The interns will work in a fast-paced Congressional Office, gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the US Congress. Interns will gain practical experience while assisting Congressional staff, and have the opportunity to acquire a working knowledge of the day-to-day operations of the Legislative branch. Responsibilities include greeting constituents, handling phone calls, supporting staff with administrative tasks, conducting legislative research, and assisting with special projects and assignments. Interns will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Should be an undergraduate student OR recent college graduate with a strong academic background and interest in public service or government as demonstrated by coursework or extracurricular activities. Must be hardworking and self-motivated, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail. Preference is given to residents of Georgia's Fifth District. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 am to 6:00 pm when Congress is in session, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when not in session.
