A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Labor and Employment Attorney to join its Minneapolis office. Duties:

  • Represent management in labor disputes, including NLRB proceedings and union elections.
  • Provide strategic counsel on grievances, arbitration matters, and labor relations.
  • Lead representation hearings and support collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients in labor disputes, ensuring favorable outcomes in negotiations and proceedings.
  • Advise clients on maintaining strong employee relations and resolving conflicts in the workplace.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including labor contracts and arbitration decisions.
  • Collaborate with clients to devise effective strategies for managing labor issues.
  • Prepare for and present oral arguments during arbitration hearings and other legal proceedings.
  • Ensure client compliance with federal and state labor regulations and employment laws.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in traditional labor law, particularly on the management side or with prior experience at the NLRB.
  • Expertise in managing NLRB proceedings, union elections, grievance arbitrations, and collective bargaining.
  • Proven ability to handle complex labor disputes and negotiations effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple cases and maintaining a high standard of work under pressure.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active law license in Minnesota or eligibility to be admitted to the Minnesota bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of labor law, including union relations and collective bargaining.
  • Strong skills in handling NLRB proceedings, arbitration hearings, and legal negotiations.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and writing, with a focus on labor law.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a track record of successful dispute resolution.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
