ProfileSenior Attorney - SES The candidate will provide advice, counsel, and legal representation to the agency. More specifically, this position supports the Division of State Purchasing and the Office of Supplier Diversity through oversight of vendor certifications and convictions under Chapters 287 and 295, Florida Statutes, and Rule 60A-1.006, Florida Administrative Code, oversight of and participation in the competitive procurement process, and coordination of public records compliance. Provide competent and strategic legal advice and counsel to DMS. Develop an expertise in assigned subject matter, with a specific emphasis on vendor certifications and convictions under Chapters 287 and 295 and Rule 60A-1.006, Florida Administrative Code, compliance with Florida’s public record laws, and procurements under Chapters 287, 110, 957, and 255, Florida Statutes. Provide and assist others who provide legal representation for the agency in administrative, judicial, and appellate proceedings. Provide polished, timely work products that reflect a thorough understanding of applicable law and an accurate knowledge of the facts. Successfully manage assigned caseload and assist with the OGC’s overall responsibilities and priorities. Articulate and appropriately summarize complex legal issues to others with varying backgrounds. Successfully collaborate with other attorneys, support staff, senior leadership, and division employees. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Conduct special projects as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have juris doctor degree from an accredited law school at the time of graduation and admission to the Florida Bar. Should have 2+ years’ experience as a licensed attorney. Litigation experience is highly desired. Experience with Florida’s public records law is preferred. Experience in administrative law is helpful. Experience in government procurement and contracting is an asset. Proficiency in office information technology is must.
