A high-profile food and agricultural trade association is looking for an exceptional Director/Senior Director of Workforce Issues. The successful candidate will interact with the association’s member companies, federal agencies, primarily the Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as Congress, and will collaborate with other trade associations and stakeholders on issues of common interest. Duties include assisting management with policy and leadership initiatives, promptly analyzing initiatives affecting member companies, and representing the association on labor and employment and worker safety issues. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as labor and workforce counsel regarding regulatory and legislative matters, advancing industry priorities and assisting members. Assist and work with members and industry implementing labor and employment components of new association initiative. Monitor, analyze, and keep abreast of key developments in labor and workforce policy area, including legislative initiatives, policy proposals and procedures. Attend congressional hearings, conferences, meetings, and special events as necessary. Coordinate production and dissemination of internal and external communications, including legislative updates, issue briefs and testimony on departmental legislative and regulatory activity. Work with association’s lobbyists interacting with key House and Senate workforce committees, as well as federal agencies including the White House, Office of Management and Budget, Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Treasury, National Labor Relations Board, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Staff and coordinate association’s Labor and Employment Committee. Staff and coordinate association’s Worker Safety Committee. Perform other duties as assigned.
