Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for investigating merger and acquisition facts and preparing documents to assist legal counsel. Will prepare and update litigation hold notices, including follow-up to ensure that all holds have been issued and complied with in accordance with legal requirements. Assist with litigation hold system for the GMR Risk Management and Claims team. Perform in-house training sessions and coordinate training sessions with litigation hold vendor. Utilize Microsoft Office 365 to prepare case set-up and custodian legal holds and perform searches and data exports. Collect and coordinate electronic and traditional discovery responses and requests. Coordinate interviews and data collection with internal departments regarding discovery responses, DOJ investigations, third-party subpoenas and other legal requests. Manage collection of data from all legal hold recipients who possess non-email data, and work with various IT teams regarding hardware and cell phone data collections and archiving of same. Track and maintain custodian hard drive storage. Work regularly with outside e-discovery vendors regarding review platforms, appropriate analytics, matter set-up, workflow, productions, case management and budgets. Consult with outside counsel regarding discovery issues including data sets, review options, and status of collections and productions. Track all non-insured litigation matters and prepare reports. Create and manage all non-insured litigation files. Monitor legal proceedings important to Company and provide updates, as directed. Coordinate and manage technology services for discovery responses, document productions, e-discovery collections, e-discovery vendor contacts, and e-discovery project management. Support attorneys in legal operations and general management duties. Back up administrative support as needed on tracking of Services of Process and other litigation filings to ensure timely handling by in-house or outside counsel. Back up administrative support as needed on answering phones and emails, opening mail and directing the same to the appropriate personnel, and setting meetings and preparing rooms for presentations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have HS Diploma or GED; Bachelorâ€™s degree is preferred. Paralegal certificate required. 5+ years paralegal experience is required. Both law firm and in-house experience is preferred. EMS, healthcare or managed care experience is preferred. Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and various legal software knowledge, including strong word processing/spreadsheet/database skills and proficiency with electronic and traditional discovery rules is essential. Must have in depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles; strongly desire in-depth knowledge of medical terminology. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skill is essential.
