Boston office of our client seeks senior knowledge management attorney with 7+ years of experience, including experience practicing in a corporate transactional role at a top-tier law firm. The candidate will assist the IPT and LS practice groups define, implement and promote KM tools, systems and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of the work. Will help the IPT and LS groups assess its KM needs and define its KM goals and priorities. Identify, recommend and implement effective strategies and solutions in light of current and ongoing developments in each practice. Stay current and advise attorneys on legal developments in the venture capital and licensing areas, with a strong focus on life sciences and TMT industries, and track market developments and trends. Prepare substantive memoranda and other practice insight resources, including client alerts; present at practice group and partner meetings. Implement document management and precedent tracking system for the IPT and LS groups, including meta-tagging deal information to facilitate user search and working with client matter teams to ensure uniform use of preferred filing systems. Develop new forms and improve precedent and checklist management systems. Update KM resources to reflect legal changes and developments. Advise the group’s attorneys on substantive questions within areas of expertise and regarding use of appropriate forms, precedents, checklists and other KM resources, and assist them in tailoring KM resources for specific client needs. Prepare and advise attorneys on the preparation of KM-related client deliverables. Draft legal memoranda and conduct legal research in response to discrete client questions. Assist in maintaining deal term grids (summaries of deal terms). Serve as the IPT and LS groups’ representative on firm-wide KM-related task forces and working groups; share, coordinate, and adopt best practices. Coordinate on behalf of the IPT and LS groups with respect to firm-wide and Corporate Department KM initiatives, and with other practice groups. Train attorneys, paralegals and others on the group’s KM resources, precedent and forms libraries, and other KM matters and systems. Assist in maintaining practice group reference and training materials. Evaluate and recommend third-party resources (industry organizations, conferences, publications) that deliver legal and market knowledge relevant to the IPT and LS practices. Strengthen links between knowledge sharing and the information systems, and improving integration among information systems across the firm to facilitate the seamless exchange of information and data. Must preferably have relevant practice experience and an interest in knowledge management, such as working with forms and managing precedent documents and checklists. Areas of required substantive expertise include venture capital, private financings and emerging company issues, license and collaboration agreements, and other commercial agreements. A strong background in the life sciences and/or technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) space is preferred. Familiarity with or exposure to public securities offerings, U.S. securities laws, and mergers and acquisitions is beneficial.
