A law firm in Newport Beach, CA, specializing in labor and employment law, seeks a highly skilled Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience with wage and hour class action, PAGA, and FEHA cases, and preferably bring their own client portfolio. This role involves representing clients in court, preparing cases for trial, and defending against various employment-related claims.

Job Duties:

  • Represent clients in litigation involving wage and hour class actions, PAGA, FEHA, employment discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and other tort claims.
  • Conduct depositions of witnesses, including expert witnesses as appropriate.
  • Prepare cases for trial and provide trial support.
  • Update clients through regular reporting and telephone conferences regarding case developments.
  • Collaborate with partners on client development and marketing initiatives.
  • Continuously develop legal skills through in-firm mentoring, training sessions, and professional development activities.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school with a GPA of or higher.
  • Experience with wage and hour class actions, PAGA, and FEHA cases preferred.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective court, client, and opposing counsel communication.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle challenging cases independently.
  • Experience with client development and maintaining client relationships.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
