Assistant Counsel The candidate will be analyzing the broad array of legal issues affecting work of the Office and thinking creatively to identify solutions to address these issues. Providing legal and analytic support, including legal and factual research on topics including data privacy and security issues, laws, regulations, policies, and best practices. Researching models of other jurisdictions in handling complex legal issues and projects. Drafting memoranda of understanding, guidelines, and other legal documents. Conducting legal research to understand and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Liaise with the Law Department and counsel from City agencies and outside entities to implement key policy goals and projects. Providing legal support for the implementation of projects and workstreams related to regulatory matters and other citywide policy issues with legal implications.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have graduation from an accredited college with a baccalaureate degree; or graduation from an accredited community college plus two years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities; or four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent 4+ years of experience as described in “2” above; or satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. Passed the New York State Bar Exam, and admitted to the New York State Bar within 6 months from date of hire is preferred. Strong legal research skills, ability to perform complex legal analysis and write and communicate clearly and effectively is must.
